Sustainable Tourism and Nature Conservation of the Pešter Plateau Presented at the University of Novi Pazar

The University of Novi Pazar hosted a lecture titled "Ecotourism on the Pešter Plateau – How to Protect Nature and Develop Sustainable Tourism," delivered by Sabahudin Abdagić, Pešter park ranger and licensed tour guide.

Abdagić outlined key opportunities for ecotourism development through educational tours, hiking, birdwatching, and the promotion of local products, with a strong focus on habitat conservation and respect for local cultural heritage.

The lecture emphasized the importance of engaging the local community, creating networks among tour guides, rural households, and local producers, as well as empowering young people to pursue careers in sustainable tourism. It was highlighted that tourism success should not be measured solely by visitor numbers, but by its contribution to nature protection and the quality of life for the local population.

Representatives from the local hospitality and tourism school also attended the event and actively joined the discussion. Potential future collaborations between the University and regional stakeholders on joint tourism and environmental protection projects were also explored.
