University of Novi Pazar at the International Academy of Islamic Finance – Durham Islamic Finance Summer School 2025 in the United Kingdom

The rector of the University of Novi Pazar, Prof. Dr. Suad Bećirović, and the University's financial manager, M.Sc. Econ. Haris Zogić, participated in the prestigious International Academy of Islamic Finance – Durham Islamic Finance Summer School (DIFSS) 2025, held from July 28 to August 1 at Durham University in the United Kingdom.

This renowned academy, led by the globally recognized expert Prof. Dr. Mehmet Asutay, gathered 75 delegates from 24 countries, including bankers, financial experts, lawyers, regulators, policymakers, politicians, and researchers. Over five days, participants attended 23 intensive sessions and workshops that covered both basic topics and modern practices in Islamic banking, finance, capital markets, and sustainable development. Special attention was paid to the development of financial products, sukuk, Islamic microfinance, as well as innovations in the fields of artificial intelligence and fintech technologies.

The program was delivered by top global experts and practitioners in Islamic finance, whose professional and academic competencies have contributed significantly to the development of this discipline on a global level.

The participation of representatives from the University of Novi Pazar at this event was also used to establish contacts and promote the upcoming Conference on Islamic Moral Economy and Finance, which the University is organizing on October 2, 2025. This important academic gathering will bring together domestic and international experts with the aim of exchanging knowledge and experiences and developing innovative approaches in Islamic finance.

The presence at DIFSS 2025 represents a significant step toward strengthening international cooperation and the academic capacities of the University in the field of Islamic finance, opening up new opportunities for the implementation of modern and sustainable financial models in our country and region.
