Students from the Department of Legal Sciences Visited the Correctional Facility in Novi Pazar

As part of the courses "Professional Practice" and "Penology," second-year students from the Department of Legal Sciences conducted a professional visit to the Correctional Facility in Novi Pazar, continuing a tradition of over a decade of collaboration between the academic community and the penal system.

This visit aimed to familiarize students with the organization and daily operations of the correctional institution, providing them with direct insight into the execution of prison sentences, treatment of convicted individuals, resocialization programs, and the challenges faced by the prison system.

During the visit, students had the opportunity to learn about the work of various departments within the institution, including the security sector, treatment services, and administration. They engaged in direct communication with staff to receive answers to numerous practical and professional questions.

The visit was conducted under the guidance of their instructors:

  • Prof. Dr. Ergin Hakić, Head of the Department of Legal Sciences
  • Assoc. Prof. Dr. Samra Dečković, Professor of Criminal Law
  • Amina Crnovršanin, Teaching Assistant

The University and the Department of Legal Sciences extend sincere gratitude to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Serbia and the Directorate for Execution of Criminal Sanctions for facilitating this professional activity.

Special thanks are directed to the warden of the Correctional Facility in Novi Pazar, Sabina Dolovac, and her associates for their warm welcome, professional presentation, and openness to collaboration, which represents an important bridge between education and practice.

Such visits further enrich the academic education of law students and encourage their professional orientation towards the fields of criminal sanctions execution and the protection of human rights within the prison system.
