Summer Art Academy Opened in Novi Pazar – Vakuf of Knowledge as a Center of Culture and Science

In the impressive premises of the Vakuf of Knowledge of the late academician Muamer Zukorlić in Novi Pazar, the “Summer Art Academy – Printmaking Workshop” was ceremoniously opened, an event that gathered numerous art lovers, academics, and students. The University of Novi Pazar, as the organizer, confirmed its dedication to bringing art closer to the wider public and encouraging creativity within the community.

The opening ceremony began with a speech by the Rector of the University of Novi Pazar, Prof. Dr. Suad Bećirović, who emphasized the exceptional importance of the Scientific Center for the future of the University. Rector Bećirović highlighted that the Scientific Center would become the epicenter of intellectual work and announced a dynamic schedule of various workshops and scientific conferences to be held under the auspices of the University in the future.

Following the rector, Assoc. Prof. Asmir Husović, Head of the Department of Art and Philological Sciences, addressed the audience. He emphasized the vital role of art in academic and social life, pointing out that art is not only an aesthetic expression but also a key element of education and cultural development. In line with this vision, he announced a rich program of cultural events that will be held at the Scientific Center, including art colonies, literary evenings, and many other manifestations that will enrich the cultural scene of Novi Pazar.

A special moment of the evening was the lecture by the esteemed academician, Prof. Dr. Fehim Husković, who impressed the audience with his insights into the significance of visual arts for society, with a special emphasis on printmaking as a fundamental element of cultural development. Academician Husković underlined the invaluable contribution of printmaking to the preservation of cultural heritage and the transmission of ideas. In an emotional moment, he expressed his deep gratitude to the late Mufti Muamer Zukorlić for his visionary efforts in introducing and advancing the arts at the University of Novi Pazar, as well as to the University leadership for their continued support of artistic programs.

The “Summer Art Academy” continues tomorrow, Saturday, June 28, 2025, with a printmaking workshop starting at 10 a.m. The workshop will be led by Amer Hadžić, senior assistant at the Department of Printmaking of the Academy of Fine Arts in Sarajevo, and will focus on monotype and etching techniques. The closing of the workshop and the exhibition of the created prints are scheduled for Sunday, June 29, 2025, at 2 p.m.

This event not only promotes the arts but also confirms that the Vakuf of Knowledge of the late academician Muamer Zukorlić in Novi Pazar has become a true center of science and culture, open to all who wish to learn, create, and enrich their souls.
