Book Promotion “Why Nations Fail” Held at the University of Novi Pazar

As part of the Book Festival, the University of Novi Pazar hosted a promotion of the globally acclaimed book “Why Nations Fail – The Origins of Power, Prosperity, and Poverty” by Daron Acemoglu and James A. Robinson on May 13, 2025. The book, which has received recognition worldwide, including a Nobel Prize, has been declared one of the most influential titles on the political and economic reasons behind the success and failure of states, attracting a large number of students, professors, and citizens.

The promotion was held in the University’s Round Hall. Speakers included:

  • Prof. Dr. Suad Bećirović, Rector of the University of Novi Pazar
  • Admir Čavalić, economist and member of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina
  • Safet Imamović, economist and member of the Assembly of the Brčko District of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The participants emphasized that the book explains in a clear and well-argued manner why some countries prosper while others remain trapped in poverty and instability, relying on the institutional framework as the key to development. It was highlighted that this type of literature holds special value for young people in the region who wish to understand the causes of socio-economic challenges and actively contribute to change.

With this promotion, the University of Novi Pazar once again reaffirms its commitment to creating space for discussions on contemporary social issues and to promoting knowledge that transcends academic boundaries.
