As part of the Winter School of Skills for High School Students, the "Stress Management" course was held, led by Assistant Professor Alma Čolović Međedović, PhD.
Participants learned how to recognize the physiological and emotional consequences of stress, the difference between acute and chronic stress, and how our thoughts, beliefs, and cognitive distortions influence emotional reactions. Through practical tasks, they distinguished thoughts from facts and examined whether our thoughts are always true.
A special part of the course was dedicated to stress regulation techniques – breathing exercises, mindfulness techniques, the STOP technique, guided imagery, and the 5-4-3-2-1 technique, along with an explanation of the impact of breathing on the nervous system.
At the end, participants anonymously evaluated the course via a QR code. Everyone emphasized that it was exceptionally useful and that they learned to recognize thought traps and perceive stressful situations in a different, healthier way.
